Tooth Whitening
We offer several tooth whitening procedures to meet most everyone’s needs. All are designed to whiten your teeth comfortably and as quickly as possible. Under the supervision of Dr. Foutz, our whitening treatments are completely safe and will not harm teeth or gums.
In-Office Procedure - Some patients will begin the whitening process in the dentist’s office, through the application of a specially-formulated gel. Your teeth can be up to 10 shades whiter in just about one hour. The process is quick and easy, and causes no discomfort.
At-Home Procedure - Other patients may be advised that it is best for them to complete the whitening process at home. This method is supervised by Dr. Foutz from your custom-fitted mouth trays to the most effective bleaching gel formulation for your desired results. Depending on the gel concentration, you could see significant whitening in as little as a few days to as long as two or three weeks.
Combination Procedure - The fastest, most-dramatic results are achieved by combining both the in-office and at-home procedures. With this method, you’ll have whiter teeth in just a few days.

Discoloration can be the result of genetics, accidents, medication, poor oral hygiene, aging, smoking, certain foods or a combination of these factors. Stains can be either on the surface of the teeth or within the tooth structure.
Teeth that are discolored from tetracycline or excessive fluoride are not good candidates for bleaching. Whitening techniques can work for tetracycline staining only if the discoloration is mild. If there are banded or layered types of staining, the best that can be expected is simply an overall lightening of the bands of color. Veneers are the best solution for these cases.
